All the very best to you and your team for the next few days. I am sure you are all running on adrenaline.
Thank you so much for the journey so far.
As for the attached photo.. it was the second 3 perf 235 to be supplied by ARRI. It felt kind of special using it. My reservation is well down the list but with number 23 coming down here to Godzone, it does make me feel proud to be a Red Kiwi !

Peter Jackson shoots RED footage for NAB presentation
Academy Award winning director Peter Jackson ("Lord of the Rings Trilogy" and King Kong") volunteered to shoot 4K footage for RED to use at NAB 2007. What started out as a test session quickly turned into a movie. Peter and his team shot RED Alpha prototypes, "Boris" and "Natasha", for 2 days in New Zealand just two weeks before the opening of NAB. All footage was shot using RED's proprietary REDCODE RAW 4K codec and recorded to RED DRIVES.

RED Digital Cinema, Inc. and Birger Engineering, Inc. announced today an agreement to develop and market a remotely controllable Canon EOS lens mount for the RED ONE Digital Cinema camera.
Stuart English, Workflow Wizard at Red Digital Cinema, commented, “This agreement allows RED customers to exploit the very large installed base of Canon EOS mount stills photography lenses, which provide excellent image quality at very affordable prices. The combination of high image quality plus remote focus and iris control from RED’s SuperGrip™ or other remote controllers, means the entry price point for 4K resolution digital imaging is dramatically lowered, opening up significant new applications.
Erik Widding, President of Birger Engineering, noted, "We’re delighted through this agreement to be able to support the many requests we’ve received from RED customers for an intelligent mount for Canon’s EOS series lenses. Working closely with the RED team, we have been able to move very quickly from product concept to working prototype units”
The prototype of the EOS mount for RED ONE will be displayed at the NAB Show, Las Vegas, April 16 – 19. Product pricing and delivery will be announced shortly.

where did the 18 - 85mm zoom go?
Stephen Webb
04-16-2007, 09:30 AM
I think that's everything.
The Red Zoom has dropped in price (though it's given as both $5900 & $6500 in different places) but is now an 18-50mm NOT an 18-85mm.
Keep looking though, I may have missed something :)

The 18-85mm looks like it's still there (I think). The 18-50mm is the zoom lens everyone noticed in those updated renders a while back. If they have terminated the 18-85mm lens, then I'll scrap that reservation and reserve the prime set. Or maybe I'll get the 18-50 and an 85mm prime... Hmmm.....

Apparently (this from Gibby, so presumably gospel) the prime lenses will be sold as a set only, so you won't be able to fill out the zoom with an 85mm prime (at least, not a red one!).
The prime set at $20k looks very interesting though - looking forward to getting my hands on a set of those for testing...

Ok, so after placing my order, I got that weird message I posted above. It didnt go all the way through. I had to call my bank to get them to release the funds. They said Red had put a hold on the transaction? It just got released 33 minutes later--after a phonecall from me. I wonder if I lost my place in line and got dropped way back in the queue... I had the camera in my cart by 5 minutes or so after 9am. Anyone know?
And did anyone else have the same problem?
Also, now that I have my receipt number, I dont see what number of the camera I'm actually getting though...
I'm happier than a pig in shit otherwise.

Yeah, I'm kinda getting that impression (sold as a set), but we'll see. OTOH, If they don't produce the 18-85mm zoom, I'll probably just get the prime set anyway. Then again, budget may get a little thin (the tax man is having his way with me today) so I may just be using my Nikon lenses anyhow. Heh.
