Stuart, this one is easy ...

how about a nice BOLD LINE which clearly indicates where -20db should be in the audio meter.

David Battistella

Ill second second that.

I triple second this one.

(takes a puff off the crack pipe)

How about a full screen meter mode for setting the levels?

Build 17 is an illegal Move in HKG / Macau and CHINA.

Why not wait a bit or some time this year to jump from 16 to Sweet 18 ?

I know RED one will be Sexy at SEVENTEEN.

I agree with the -20db line.. That's a major deal.

but Mark, if it's easy, why wait for b17?

Hmmm... with an option for -18dB for those countries working to that reference level?

No.. -20db.. We got here first.

Yeah the -20db should be in the release version of 16. Seems like a simple thing to add.. But what do I know

I´d love to be able to load a jpeg picture in the EVF or LCD with an opacity setting in 10% steps, to match framing. A killer feature would be playback of a recorded file while recording a new one to do kind of a simple matchmove :)
And i´d die for not only a opacity setting, even greater would be a simple blue or green keyer. I´m fine if it takes until B18 to get that in :)

The audio section needs a lot of work. Phantom power doesn't work for me. Seems to depend on the mic. I use Neuman. The metering suggestions would help as well.

Yes, meters are very tough to judge on first glance. A -20 mark would be perfect.

For those who can deal with a bit more extra weight on the camera, utilize your side handles and strap a Sound Devices MixPre on there. It will remove a lot of the audio problems for run and gun.

I would die for this feature. It would be, hands down, one of the last hurdles this camera has to being absolutely perfect.

Why not take it a step further and let us load in PNG files from the SD card with either a match-frame overlay like you want, OR a set of custom framelines.

PNG is a better choice than JPG because PNG includes an alpha channel (opacity).

We will get there. I have complete faith.

Just wait until there is an SDK. Some of the uber-nerds here on reduser will come up with features that knock your socks off.

are you saying that the EVF performs an anamorphic desqueeze?

Brook -

I have been begging for that for a while. I can't be sure, but it looks very much like it could be a hardware limitation - as you would still need frameguides and tally light no matter what - I need the graphic overlays out the preview with EVF + LCD desperately.

Call me crazy - but I actually think that on EPIC they should make a new EVF.

Send a DVI clean signal from camera (along with power and "communication" to the camera).

Put a small image-processing board INSIDE the EVF itself - then you could do anamorphic desqueeze, independent displays, and even variable opacity overlays all without changing what the camera is doing or sending to LCD or preview.

Just a wild concept -

I've been wondering about this actually...will the SDK be licensed to certain 3rd party vendors for a price, or will it be free for any Reduser to play about with?

Fredrik Callinggard
06-26-2008, 04:13 AM
are you saying that the EVF performs an anamorphic desqueeze?

No I'm saying that it will not be able to take a downconverted signal and therefor there's no workaround for it as for now.

We can be nice to folks on the other side of the ocean, even though they are 2 db's shorter than us - check box for -18db or -20db - ONE BOLD LINE

Even just a toggle between three modes, FULL,REDUCED and NONE would be great.

Sometimes I want to turn off the lookaround but I am glad its a bit darker in b16.

Anamorphic Desqueeze!!!!!!!!Please.

Now if that's a Hardware limitation then SAY SO...then we won't have any false hopes for the next year. Much thanks.

-20db marker for the sound guys they use the camera too....

Never satisfied, ever.

It would also be great if we could flip the image. At least for the preview and the Quicktime proxies. There are always occasions where you have to hang the camera upside down.

And please, the option to assign "edge highlight" to one of the assignable buttons.
