Anyone done any tests with Super 16 primes or zooms cropped into 4k on the Helium? I saw this discussed before it was released but I don't think I've seen any discussion about it now that there are a bunch of cameras out there.

I'm really curious how it holds up, and the prospect of using s16 zooms could be a real win for eng doc work and wildlife where [weight : zoom] ratio makes a big difference.

Looking forward to seeing some results and hearing anyone's thoughts -

I am still waiting for my Epic-W to arrive...should be sometime next week...but I'm planning to do some 4K tests with a set of S16 Superspeed primes and my ARRI 11-110 S16 zoom. From looking at Phil's data sheets, it appears that covering 3.5K is no problem for S16, but not sure about 4K. I'll try to post some results here once I'm done.

Had some fun testing out Zeiss Ultra16 lenses on the Epic-W. Good results at 4K! Nice clean crop, but noise is obviously more apparent when it's there.

Can't wait to see everyone's results. I think one of the hidden benefits of Helium is being able to use this amazing glass at 4K.

That Arri 11-110 is a 10x zoom that's also probably 10 times lighter/smaller than an Angy 24-290!!

PS Tom, I wonder if the Optex Converted 12-120 has a slightly wider image circle than the 11-110, enough to maybe cover 4K? The 1.2 vs 1.1 magnifying element could in theory should also expand coverage....

Hmmmm...

Could be...unfortunately I don't have access to one for testing. But I do have the 11-110 so we'll give that a good workout. I'm also curious about a PL expander, like the Veydra. I know it is designed to enlarge the image circle of 35mm lenses, but will it have any effect on S16 lenses?

It probably won't be able to accomodate the rear element which usually protrudes much further inside the PL Mount tho...
