Okay, I reserved the Red camera back with the second reservation period. Do I need to reserve all the accessories, now, or will I be notified when my camera is ready to be shipped (and paid for) to order the accessories?

Maybe they need to add a little something to the FAQ portion of Red.com.

Did you get an email confirmation? I'm not getting one.
Did you get a serial #?

Yes, I got the confirmation. I'm just wondering if I have to reserve the accessories, now, or can I wait 'til I'm notified that my camera is ready.

I'd love to know the answer to this one. Are the supplies of the Drives/ viewfinders/ Grip packages going to be as scarce as the RED's?

I really don't want to have to wait till August for my RED and then have to wait months to get the gear to actually run it. :waaa:

Can someone at NAB find out for us?

Hey guys the accessories will be purchased with the camera, this has been stated many times so you can relax--- congrats on your purchases-- also no serial #'s from here on out as told by the RED TEAM--these are firm orders-- check the tentative schedule for a rough idea of delivery---hope this helps. ;-)

I think this was addressed awhile back...sorry don't have the link, but it's my understanding that the accessories will be available the same time as the camera (other than the lens - maybe the 300mm); so my camera is scheduled to ship in August and the accessories that I order should accompany the camera.

I remember seeing an earlier post where Jim stated that reservation holders didn't need to worry about accessories. He said that reservation holders would be taken care of. Doesn't make sense to sell the camera and not have enough accessories to outfit the camera. I'll go back and see if I can find the post on this one.

Here's the quote from Jim on accessories:

"Reservation holders are protected for future accessory orders, so relax. The new orders are primarily for new customers. If you are serial number 33 and want accessories, relax. You will be in front of orders taken at NAB or online tomorrow. We plan to ship cameras with accessories in order of camera reservations... there was an advantage to having faith.

If you want to place an new order as of tomorrow... the sooner the better. And no serial numbers will be handed out tomorrow on... all new orders will be handled by "time stamp".

Jim"

Then why did reservation holders need to reserve the zoom lens? Would that fall under accessory?

From what I've read to date, lenses don't fall under the "accessories" category. Accessories include things like EVF, Battery, Red Drive, Red Rail, etc. Basically anything under the accessories tab at red.com is fair game. Everything else is separate and subject to the reservation system. Unless of course we hear something different from Jim.

Also, depending upon how you want to outfit your camera, you could use Nikkor lenses or any other type of lens. This would make it so you could have a functional camera without having to purchase additional lenses....it's all designed to provide ultimate flexibility to the end user.

If that is the case, then a reservation holder might still need to reserve the prime set now or be in for a long wait. Can someone get clarification on this? And if we can just order one of the prime lenses?

Up until today, Red primes were not available. So if you are looking at purchasing them, probably best to get your reservation in today. From what I understand, they are currently available as a set and not available for individual purchase. Could be wrong...we'll probably have to see how things shake out over the next couple of days.
