actually i see it as a positive thing when the "red guys" sometimes bites back - like jim did after the 1:2.40 announcement. Shows you guys have passion in your work - and more importantly - you guys take the whole "red revolution" very personal.
this comforts me alot - and my faith in your company is unmatched by any company ever.
The EPIC announcement and the offer to turn in red1 for a full discount, is what really really made me think - wow this company is the closets thing to a "corporate" friend I can get.... if you know what I mean (only really good friends would offer me that:)).
Jim and all you other RED guys your doing fantastic work. period. imagine where RED will be in 2 years... i cant wait:)
best,
Sidney

I hope he goes to some very GREEN (mountains) and/or BLUE (ocean) place to R&R, enough of RED color for few days...
PS: And get some sleep...

The irony of this thread is that Jim is not going to see the wishes as he is "on a break" and it is poor Jarred, who reads all this while working...

Take a break, guys.
You deserve it, after constantly bringing the future to us.
I can almost feel "through" the forum the amount of effort you're making.
Rest is an important part of work.

Go somewhere warm, quiet (leave your mobile and gadgets behind!), with natural outdoor beauty - it's good to get away from "civilization" sometimes and remember to sleep, eat and breath!

I need to take a break from reading this forum. I feel like a Redabuser who needs more info/updates.

JIM BEFORE YOU GO!!!
Can we get 10K full frame at 200fps in build 17 please!
Now! With no bugs!
I also want to be able to shoot on the surface of the sun without the fan coz the fan is still audible when shooting.
:)

Thanks Myktyl - it is my company's logo inspired by M. C. Escher. We are in process of completing cool 3D logo-animation...

Well, I attempted to break Jim's 125 hours without sleep and I just couldn't do it. My previous best was 56 hours straight. So I give up, Jim just is able to work harder than me. Go get some sleep Jim. But don't go away for too long. I like all of these innovations you're coming up with during those sleepless days and nights. The newest surprise was completely out of left field. Keep them coming.
Of course, it is possible that Jarred pulled a coup d'état and Jim is locked up in a closet somewhere. So, everybody be nice to Jarred, just in case. :-)

Maybe they pulled the coup d'état in order to force Jim to take a break. We don't want Jim (or anyone else from the RED-TEAM) to work himself to death... Go Jarred! Viva La Re-Vaccacion!!!

Sleep deprivation is too dangerous to play around with.
Potential permanent damages to central nervous system and body in general are not exactly cool stuff.
found this (http://bodybuilding.about.com/od/injurypreventiontreatment/tp/sleepdeprived.htm) list just to name some risks:
"Who can stay up more" game is more like playing chicken with mother nature. And we know who wins there.
Personally, I'd force Jim home after 48 hrs tops at the risk of getting fired. :calm:

Just to remember
If you want perfect... or finished, don't buy RED. If you are brave and want the ride of your life... give us a call.
Jim
Our camera will never be done. We will continue to surprise you with unexpected features and quality improvements.
Jim
My sincerest appreciation goes out to all RED customers. This has been quite a ride the past two years. From ground zero to incredible footage... and great friends. It is a time I will never forget.
Jim
Hope to see you back soon Jim

Rami, this is a love-in, with quote-drops rippling the surface of Reduser like that... And I'm right behind you, because I've been following the jurassic speed other camera companies use to sell resolution. "Full HD" seems like a pinnacle of some sort, and it is... 'till the fall!
Mr. Jannard doesn't sound like he wears a suit to work. Can anyone confirm this? 'Cause then he's surely unique for a CEO; of which 'CEO' may be among a few other titles he was born to wear... This could be a new thread of some amusement to break the pick of pressure (Can't use 'Destiny', it's been taken!) What else can we call this guy?!
I hate suits (easy to mimic; bear no substance) and they always get in the way of work.
However, product-wise, what you're selling, you've got to, 1. make it boot, 2. make it work, and 3. make it better. At this point, since you're so far ahead of the game, you don't even have to worry about number three for a couple of years, really! Back to basics which you barely had time for in the beginning. Other cams are doing the R+D you completed last year, now, and they must be hoping to become retro by next year....
The R1 needs a hardware bath, a good software meal, and tests that knock out the house lights so Jim can get some REST! (I feel a curious dude like this, who wants to shake up the world literally in the way it produces it's history, won't be able to rest long. Well, he's not Keith Moon, thankfully.
I wish you well, wish you rest, and wish you the drive to keep RED alive!
Good luck and skill in the future, Mr. Jannard, my two cents are betting on you!

Jim definitely deserve a break.
He is getting a big break from Sony, for sure.
After watching the European football finals broadcast exclusively with Sony cameras, I asked a Sony big shot (name withheld for obvious reasons) if Sony was planning on countering RED. (Note: Spanish team was pretty good, even though I was rooting for my team Germany!)
Answer: "Sony is a big corporation answerable to millions of shareholders. They want to make profits rather than browny points.
In their 100 year history, ARRI made hundreds of Cameras and several ARRI family members made a modest living off of it. If Jim wants, he can replace them. Sony concentrates on larger markets where much profit can be made. For example, pocket cameras and Cell phones and PSPs. P35 was a concept camera not intended for sale for profit. Sony has no plans to compete in the niche market of RED. "
There you have it fellas. 35 mm camera business is a mom-and-pop nickel-and-dime business in the eyes of BIG corporate Sony. So, expect no competition from the only source that can put RED out of business. Jim, take all the vacation you want. You have nothing to fear.
PS: Panasonic and Canon are equally stupid. They are coming out with some new cameras with 1/4" sensors! Well, their stupidity is Jim's good luck.

That is not all their are coming out with. Do not underestimate Japanese mentality... :ninja:

Hardly conclusive, on the Sony front. I don't think they'd play their hand if they had a digital cinema camera designed to compete with RED. Besides I don't hate the idea of Sony and Panasonic getting into this part of the game. After all, competition benefits the end user. I agree with the above statement don't discount the Japanese camera manufacturers.
