RED36 on CF Cards at 16:9 will it ever happen on any future Build?
Or one must get the red drive?

Is there a way of using the entire Sensor (16:9) to shoot 2:1? Squeeze>unSqueeze without Ana lens?

The 16GB cards will reportedly be able to handle anything the RED DRIVE can... "and more".

Is there a way of using the entire Sensor (16:9) to shoot 2:1?
How do you want to use the entire sensor to shoot 2:1 if the entire sensor is not 2:1?
The only way is with an anamorphic lens, of course.
but then you ask:
Squeeze>unSqueeze without Ana lens?
How can you squeeze an image to be later unsqueezed if you did not use an anamorphic lens in the first place? you would squeese an already perfect image. Pixels are not liquid, they all stay at their place.
Sorry to sound cruel, but do you want the camera or any device to process for you a right image made with the full sensor and turn it into.. what? a wrong one? a stretched image witch would have discarded or fake pixels anyway, and stay stretched?
Aren't you happy with what you have? I can't understand what you want exactly.
Waht's the point of playing with frame proportions if it's not for being able to use anamorphic lenses and/or to use more pixels?
There is no way of changing pixels position without fakeing that by changing the optical path before them. Am I right?
Use an anamorphic lens, or, even better, do the simplest thing: crop 16:9 to 2:1. You retain all the orizontal pixels, just cut the top and bottom that you don't like to see. Much faster for the computer then forcing it to desqueeze an unsqueezed film at full resolution. Thinking that the cropped 4k image is not enough would be equal to think that Mysterium is not enough, which is a totally different topic, and this very subjective problem can't be solved even if you actually use anamorphic lenses, because you can't squeeze enough to finish with more pixels then the sensor's pixels.
While in-camera cropped 2:1 is so easy.

Until the RED 16GB CF card ships, 16:9 at REDCODE 36 can only be recorded to the RED-DRIVE. The 8GB CF card cannot support the data rate required.
See Operations Guide for Build 16 v3.1.5 on www.com/support Page 31 for expected max frames rates for 16GB CF.....
Note: Max frame rates subject to verification during the Beta test program.
