View Full Version : Can I use this 6 pin Lemo splitter to hook up 2 RED batteries on RED plates?

I just bought this on ebay:

Description:
This is a Lemo six pin splitter, it will fit any camera that uses that Lemo connector. It's useful for adding an extra power outlet from the camera or batteries that have the 6 pin socket, ( ie: Aaton batteries ). I have recently upgraded to the Aaton X.tera I don't have need of this anymore because the newer model has more outlets than the Prod'. Lemo's are an expensive fitting, this is a good opportunity to get an extra port inexpensively.

Can I use this safely, with say a battery on the RED cradle and then a RED belt battery plate with 2 batteries? Could we hot swap?

That Lemo connector on the Aaton is a smaller diameter than the Lemo connector used on Red. So the answer is no.

Even if it would fit, you can have heavy current running from one battery if they don't have the same voltage. You would need electronic protection or it can be very dangerous.

This circuit will be necessary at least..

Yes, it works but is not a solution unless somebody finds diodes with very small voltage drop.

Anyways, this cable is a junction box. It just allows you to power more accessories from the battery that is powering the camera. Totally opposite of what you want to do.

Steve is correct, This is the LEMO 1B for the Aaton ACC port / Battery, this is a splitter "Y" Cable. The RED uses a 2B for power in.

Thanks, guys for all the info.

I saw it on the last day of the auction and he had RED listed in the title and I couldn't tell the sizes. I think the winning bid was $70. I think I will ask him if I can cancel since he stated/implied it would work with red.

Unless one of you guys wants it.
