How long before people manage to start reporting back on the demo footage, show's been running a while now.
Perhaps there's a crowd of thousands standing transfixed by the quality and no-one can tear themselves away!
There seems to be nearly 1700 people waiting to hear what they think :)

The early birds are all stuck in the tent. No one manages to get out because of a huge crowd blocking the exits. :waaa:

not the greatest but thats all i got for now.. i made this page for my mom and my friends, but hey yall can see it too!
there is a line around the tent like a nightclub, only letting in a few people at a time (with a rope holding them back)
two bigbouncer dudes with red skull and crossbones shirts on.
mosh pit inside. have to stand on your toes to see anything. 4 or 5 (cant rememebr) red cameras all across the one wall. frankie, the spider, boris and natasha in the middle, kelly got a haircut it looks like, redcode native FCP6 / redcine demo. you can bypass redcine by using a red plugin thing in final cut (SWEEEET)
best things in the show so far: the 18-50 zoom thats the size of a damn PRIME lens. the SUPER GRIP zoom controller, can controll zoom, whitebalance, record and stop, control AUDIO GAIN, control FOCUS, ANYTHING, its alll user programmable.
throw that pesky, ugly, microforce AWAY ;)

Okay, guys, the footage was #*@?*#*!!! Amazing. I was in group 2 seeing the footage introduced by Jim himself who threatened bodily harm to anyone shooting the footage so I doubt any of the faithful will post it--youll have to wait for jim himself.
Everything is stunning--the viewfinder looks even better in person and trhe workflow promises to be amazing.
No doubts--the most amazing, game changing, camera in history.
Apple pro-res has the footage, too!
Gotta run!

I've just been checking out Cinematography.com forums and it's pretty quiet. (Most people are probably viewing this forum) However still a couple of threads where the most pompous of DOP's can still rubbish RED.

Is there any other pro equipment booth there which oozes coolness like that one
Judging by the crowd it seems like the project was a total failure after all. Heheh.

But you get to experience the mana - it must be awesome.

Awesome! What's the footage like? Exteriors, landscapes, natural lighting, FX, green-screen...?
All outdoor, completely unlike any test footage you've ever seen as it is completely shot like a mini feature. Tons of arials, explosions, etc " written and directed by peter jackson". Who else could get a legend to shoot the sample footage? Dozens of actors in period costumes, tanks, guns, dogfights, but most of all--filled with emotion and real film making.
If there was any green screen--it was flawless. Several quoted that it was shot over 2 days, a lot hand held by peter himself. Not a "video" shot in a single frame--just jaw dropping resolution and dynamic range. From the opening shots the room was completly sucked of oxegen as everone gasped at once.
Spoke to jim afterwards (he was totally available and jazzed) and he said it was just the begging. All of the footage was shot with boris (or natasha) limitations of one aperature and one shutter speed (180 degrees). As good as it gets--it will only get better.
We are in for an amazing ride!

He has an excuse, poor guy. it takes alot to shift a paradigm. But come to think of it he seemed tired when I met him at the RED Sundance party too. I hope those guys get some rest, I want them fully energized and alert so they can get working on my camera.
My friend at nab says that Jim's wife (I think, maybe Fiancé) spotted him $20 for lunch today in vegas because he didnt have cash on him.
now thats what I call customer service!

El, I don't blame them if they all hit the floor snoozing right now, they've been completely gracious hosts. Jarred is a stud, I've met him twice (once with his wife) and each time he impresses me completely, that pic must've caught him blinking or something, he's a very jovial dude.

Was there at the booth, no pictures was the deal on the film or else Jim would, quote, "beat the shit out of you, break your camera, throw you out of the booth, and make fun of you for six months" :) everyone was LOL-ing then because he sounded so dead serious but in a fake way, which is what made it funny.
My brother and I didn't get a chance to talk to anybody except Rob Lohman who spotted us and beat through the crowd like Sauron from the opening of Lord of the Rings to come say "Hello". We like Rob , we met him in person last year at the DVinfo.net morning NAB meeting, great guy. He told us in detail about the RED footage from New Zealand and how cool it turned out in such a short amount of time and we all unanimously agreed that the ending of the short was fantastic and absolutely hilarious.
To get technical, everything said about RED is true. There was no grain, I repeat, NO GRAIN. Everything was also crystal clear and very sharp, every blade of grass in the airfield for the scenes with the planes could be individually pointed out practically. The air footage spread all the way into the mountains of New Zealand dozens of miles away and don't even get me started on how good the clouds in the sky looked.
As far as a RED projector, mini camera, or display goes, I could believe it but as I said, we didn't manage to get to talk to anybody besides Rob and he was pulled away before we could ask any questions like that. But that's okay, we'll be back Wednesday and Thursday, so there's still a lot of time to go back and check things out specifically.

Hi Elcurado, no you're right, he was tired I guess, but what I have seen is more than I have exspected, was eaven not able to shoot pictures there was a 100 meter crowd the hole day and crosing the line looks definitively stunning. They shoot a kind of second war story with tanks and old planes in 2 days. Amacing.

Forgott to say that the range of this camera is really stunning, from the white clouds down to the blackest black: everything perfect. The only thing I am asking about was something a shutter effect which was for my taste a bit to heavy. Don't now if this was the projector or anything else. Could be, the picture were sometimes this sharp, that could explaine the effect.
