Hi Folks
We have just received a Red Digital Cinema camera + plan to use a Sound Devices 302 audio mixer and need to connect these together in the most efficient manner and I’m wondering if you can assist in recommending the required cables for this?
I have noted that Sound Devices have tested their mixers with the Red Camera and have made some recommendation which can be found at the link below:
http://www.sounddevices.com/notes/cameras/red-one/
Ideally what I'm looking for is a short cable that will remain permenantly connected to the Red Camera and will allow us to quickly and efficiently connect in our mixer when required.
What I think we require is a cable that has two male TA3 connectors to connect into audio cannels one and two + we will require a return audio feed to the mixer. Does this come via the audio out TA3 or via the headphones 3.5mm jack or should we have both options? (You can tell I'm not a sound man!!!!)
I will need to have padding added to both the audio inputs - the diagram on the Sound Devices site means nothing to me - what should I be asking for here. Is it 10db or 20 db padding? Or perhaps something else altogether?
These connectors would then terminate in a Tajini quick release connector. (Tajini was recommended to me as being better than hirose - is this the case?)
On the Sound Devices 302 mixer end we require a cable that has two female XLR's ( L + R) + an audio return which I think comes via a 3.5mm jack.
Will this all work as planned or am I missing something?
Many thanks
Scott
