Ok, after watching other footage from other people, I must be doing something wrong processing footage.

I know there will be SOME noise in shots, but why do I see noise that is distracting? I have a close to perfect exposure, I'm fiddling around with REDAlert, and I'm still getting noise after processing.

Any suggestions or does it just take practice?

Justin, can you post a snapshot and let us know your shot details like ISO, meter reading, etc.? And which build are you using? Thanks.

Do you mean in the Prores files only (you say after processing)? Or can you see it when you bring up the R3D's in Red Alert?

If you're shooting tungsten on build 15 you'll find a lot of blue channel noise. Unfortunately that noise quite often had compression artifacts. That's the nice thing with 16, the noise looks and behaves more like film, which makes it easy to treat.

I had horrible noise issues with 15 as well. The noise was noticeable at asa500 and unacceptable at anything higher than that. Tried multiple black shade calibrations.

when I switch to 16 that all went away :)
