I dont think I have seen this topic covered yet and I have a couple questions...

1) Is it going to be possible to plug a laptop into the RED One.

2) If so, using custom software would I be able to control various aspects of the camera... frame ramping, shutter, ect?

3) The ability to use (custom?) external hardware to control the same functions as necessary.

They're working on an API that would allow remote control but I don't think that they have released details. In essence, it seems technically possible so it just requires them to develop it.

Hii guys?

And,if it is not late in the development phase, maybe all the control cuold also be made through bluetooth, i think it is not too much difficult, cause you are exchanging just small size data.
I think it would be for great use in cranes, car mounts, helicopters, and steadycam work.

Best wishes for all, have a great 2007

And would allow control from a PDA or phone but bluetooth has a short range, you would be ok with the range?

A bluetooth reciever could theoretically be attached to one of the camera's ports (USB, etc...) Again, it just needs to be developed and if the interest is there I'm sure it's possible.

Wireless capabilities would be via USB and SD card format adaptors. That way the camera can remain independent of any wireless technology changes.

Absolutely. Ive been out of the loop on technology for a while now, but I was amazed to see wireless 802.1b SD cards on the market. Great stuff.

But what about drivers? What OS is the RED going to run on? Linux? Windows Embedded? Windows CE? BSD? Solaris?

I would prefer something pretty mainstream like Windows CE just because we would benefit from the drivers and development platform already established.

If history is any indication I believe they will run Red-hat. :)

wireless capabilities would be a huge bonus, but not necessary. Any third party wireless divice may be a driver nightmare. An accessible API for the RED would be just perfect!
