REDCINE - Minimum requirements for the Mac?

MacBook Pro?

Mike Curtis wrote at HD4Indies (http://www.hdforindies.com/2007/04/mikes-day-one-report-from-reds-booth.html#links) that: "...a MacBook Pro can do 1K in REALTIME on the timeline."

Mac Pro?

"Intel" is the only "official" requirement.

As best I understand it, must have Intel to run REDCINE. However as far as editing FCP has two options. You can inport the REDCODE directly into FCP6 as 4k RAW files and FCP will proxy that footage to be played at either 1k or 2k depending on the speed of your system or you can convert the footage into Apples new ProRes422 codec (which is stunning but 2k) and be able to use many of the realtime effects built into FCP.

Also you can turn your footage into ProRes422 either on the output of REDCINE or if you skip that step you can do it upon import to FCP. If you choose the latter then importing is very similiar to that of a P2 card.

Great! More options more fun.
