No 4K in the first cameras?
In an interview over at http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/eyes+on-the-red-camera-real-and-beautiful-but-4k-launch-support-in-question-252798.php
Ted seems to have said 4K is perhaps not available in the first cameras.
I thought the first ones would only be lacking certain features and functions, but it wouldnt lack 4K all together!
That sounds weird to me, as all the prototypes so far were able of 4K.
Was Ted perhaps talking about Apple's support of 4K instead?
I believe this is answered in another thread. The writer must have written ahead of NAB or simply misquoted/misunderstood. The fact is according to RED.com and Jim that 4K WILL be enabled from the getgo with REDCODE. Apparently onboard editing will not be though.
Furthermore, it sounds like all other options will be simple firmware updates - nothing to worry about if this is the case as it appears. A simple download should do the trick I'd imagine.
