This site logs you out automatically every couple of minutes. By the time you read a thread and have something to say, you have to log back in OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER...

AND, that's not all.

The SEARCH function is designed to be completely frustrating. Why should you have to put in a code to search the site? The stupid character generator has all sorts of squiggly line and is hard to read.

Get rid of that!

You are discouraging people from BOTHERING with your search, when the exact opposite should be the case. You should encourage people to search for answers so they aren't as likely to ask the same old crap ad nauseum.

Geesh.

Hmmm... I never have problems logging out - using Firefox which remembers all settings.

Search is indeed sub-optimal. When searching, I always use Google. I use the serach term I need, and add: "reduser".

neither do I. Reduser NEVER logs out on my macbook unless I actually hit the logout button.

Don't have a problem with it, when using firefox or IE..

It's called CAPTCHA, I know it is really annoying, but it helps against hackers that are using bots to automatically search a million times, that will make it even harder for the users to search if you would get an error because the server is overloaded.
But still, google does a better search, most of the time when I'm searching specifacly for something I just won't get the right results at the search function.

No problem here either, Mac, OS X.5.4, Safari or Firefox. On Parallels, no problem with IE or Firefox. In fact, with the "remember me" box checked, I remain logged in perpetually.

Make sure the "remember me" box is checked, you have cookies enabled, and you don't have any spyware that is deleting your cookies regularly... unless you want that to happen of course. :sarcasm:

Sounds like your web browser is configured not to accept cookies. I'm sure your privacy is well protected but you won't find many websites that work for you.

I have never seen a CAPTCHA code when doing searches on Reduser. Are you sure you are posting about the right website?

if you aren't using www in front of reduser, that may be why you are getting logged out. put www.reduser.net instead of just reduser.net if you aren't already and it might take care of that problem.

Later,
Jason

You shouldn't get logged out. The manufacturers of the community based software that Reduser is running have had the useless search feature forever. The advice you got to use google and narrow its parameters by including Reduser in the search parameters is correct and will hopefully keep the hair on your head.

Geesh.

There's got to be some sort of anti-virus or firewall issue involved.

I never log out, both at work and at home at work, and everytime I log onto www.reduser.net my name is there at the top of the screen without doing anything, and it stays there all day if I leave IE running.

Both systems are PCs running Win XP. The home one uses basic firewall and anti-virus, the work one goes through a boiler-plate network system.
