Sorry to bring this up again but I'm still not sure how this will be handled. There's still no official statement in the thread http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1587
Do reservation holders need to order any new lenses they want asap? Or will there be a 30 day window to order them when our RED ONE serial # comes up?
And what about the zoom lens switch? Do we need to take any action now if we want to switch from a 18-85mm reservation to a 18-50mm? Or can we do that in the same 30 day window?
I'd appreciate any official statement at this point because I'm really unsure of how to proceed. And I guess I'm not alone on that. Thanks a lot!

I was under the impression that there is no longer an 18-85mm zoom, and that everyone with those reservations now has an 18-50mm reservation.

If you are a reservation holder Jim says just to relax we will all be ok.

I do not work for RED but I heard from several members of the Red Team that their policy will be to supply any available accessories to reservation holders when they get their cameras. They did not see the logic in sending a lens to someone who didn't have a camera then having to tell the person picking up their RedOne that the lens they wanted was out of stock.
When your camera res number comes up you fill out your kit with available items. Its simple and it makes sense, of course I may be biased since I have a low rez number :matrix:
I suppose some people who ordered glass early on might be upset but I urge you to keep in mind that there is no malice inherent in this policy.
For those of you who have not had the pleasure of spending any time with the Red Team I have found them incredibly graceful under pressure. The development of the entire culture of the Red Digital Cinema Camera Company is almost as fluid as the ongoing development of their product line and from what I have seen so far I am impressed.
IMHO the Red Leader has consistently looked for ways to keep his bargain with the rez holders as best he reasonably can while surfing the bleeding edge. This is a roller coaster ride, I suggest we all stick our hands up in the air...

Jarred,
All reservation holders can chose any accessaries and lenses without losing their seniority
or
Do we still hurry up and get in line for the lenses?

If you want to switch to the 18-50mm from the other zoom I would just do it to be safe. I did it at NAB on Monday.

Please Babu, be quiet.
The guys are really busy and tired, and they are at the show, now.
If you're nervous, you can always reserve all the lenses you need at the store.
Or wait with confidence.
I'm waiting, without hurry and with a lot of confidence.
Just my thought, you can do what you want, without any scream.

Thank you Doc!
You reassured me that everything will be cool for us reservation holders.
So I'm also waiting - with confidence.
(anyhow, a single official statement in this forum would resolve any remaining doubt :turned:)

The only downside is that the pills will be available in some months and are still in development...

While at the red tent I was advised that an email is forthcoming to all reservation holders about the lenses and all reservation holders will be given the option to change to the 18-50. So....I would expect that will happen AFTER NAB---so just gotta be patient.

That is right - I got the same information. the 18-50mm lens is ready, so every reservation holder can have one for his camera, no need to reserve them !

Mio caro, I believe babubu is concened as all of the RED zoom reservation holders. It's acceptable. And your answer as well. I have the same confidence. ;-) The seniority is already ours. Nobody can deny it. Since 12 months ago; patient-months as matter of fact. :-)

I was told at the booth that an email would be sent out asking if we wanted to switch our reservations from the 18-85 to the 18-50 as well.

I'm not worried about it. I'm confident that RED will take care of the reservation holders. I jumped first thing monday morning and tried to reserve the prime set... The web store refused my credit cards and then refused to let me log back in. As it apparently did with a lot of others.... I know it's working now, but I haven't gone back to put down my deposit. I sent an email to RED asking about this and no response yet. I haven't pressed the issue because I'm not entirely sure I'll be buying the prime set. And as I said, I'm sure that RED will take care of us and the primes and other lenses / accessories will be available to me when my number comes up.

I was told today at the booth that Camera Reservation holders wouldn't need to reserve accessories or lenses as they would have a 30 day window from the time their number gets called in which to order and pay for everything you'd want. Anyone else hear this?
I think Mike Curtis sums it up over at HDforindies.
The situation as i read it is this: Your reservation number for camera is the key where all else begins. You order whatever you need and when your camera is ready you get what you ordered (provided it is available).
This sounds fair to me even though i was 14 on the red zoom! You get the camera and you get the bits and bobs he he. That would explain why no mention to reservation holders to get in quick and order etc. Red can concentrate on getting orders from others at NAB and us reservation holders can be assured that when the camera is ready, so too will all our lenses and accessories. Civilised orderly and fair.

Interesting, but I doubt it. The deposits are in place to make sure you're at least somewhat serious about purchasing. The reservation allowance is more like an instant rebate when you actually pay for your camera as a way to say "thank you" for the faith and support early on.
