Hi, just to clarify,
You are looking for two owner operators with their own RED cameras?
If so, what type of setup do you want, lenses, accessories etc?
Also, what type of gig is this, doc, fiction, travel?

If you can't afford to get your crew to the first city then how can you afford to pay your shooters a reasonable for their skills and camera! It's just very unprofessional to ask a shoot at this level to cover their own travel.

so thats a long list, not saying anything about the person doing the job.
if your need to get a red owner is this big !!!
what is your need to have an experienced owner/operator to do the job ?
???????????????
yes , let me know based on a 10 hour rate what to expect from your side, make me an offer I can not refuse or rent the gear at a rental house and have a crew to work with it
so I do own a red, 2k lenses, 4k lenses, whatever you need to have on your holy red, now let's talk about the people involved !
Have fun, I'm booked till july 2009 (we''l be working with a red, my decision, could have been xd cam HD)

"carry your own RED gear"- hiking to remote regions
Camera, batteries, charger, drive, lcd, lens, mattebox, follow focus, camera accessory bolts and attachments.. tripod (well can go without this if it is all handheld)
This alot of gear to carry for one person.
I have a feeling..and not to his/her fault at all..that they think the RED has the same shooting portability and weight close to an hvx or hdv camera. Coming back from shooting some pretty damn remote regions of Vietnam, I can say I could not last an hour hiking it if it weren't for my acs.

Let me get this straight... you're asking people to commit to a 16 week gig (that's four months!) with their own gear (at their own risk) AND you require them to pay for their own trip to Prague? And all this without providing any form of credentials of your true identity - hiding behind a gmail account. Sorry - but if you want to be taken serious then I think you should consider at least giving people the chance to see that you're for real. Good luck finding someone.

Not really an answer...
If you want applicants, tell them exactly what you require, for what purpose. And link to a site showing what the gig is/ or who you are.

You have some balls. needredcrew
Anyone who can't take care of little things off the bat, is not worth working with.
Travel, food, and Lodging are a minimum not a luxury.
Did you also want them to work for free too?
Let's me think about it.
I'll will let you know in about five years?
Don't call us we'll call you.

Thank you all for your comments.
1 we have a full crew in place.
2 original post states (need EUROPEAN) red cam crew and to make this even more clear I added must pay your own way to Prague, people in Europe should not take offense to this as the flight would be very inexpensive.
3 we have ALL the little things taken care of
4 the project is not public and as i stated in the original post, that more info would be given to the prospective applicants at the time we selected who we wanted.
This original post was to see if any of you would be interested in this type of project thank you to the few that have sent reels, they are under review.
Yes I understand that this is a last minute post in relation to the gig, however if we cannot find qualified red cam users... we will simply use the gear we own.
And NO it is not hostel III, that was funny, you wont leave with your cameras...if it was hostel 3 the cam would be the last thing i would worry about loosing.
Thank you for such a warm welcome to the forum!
Sincerely,

It's difficult to take someone serious when they do not post their name, then ask you pay for your own travel to Europe! Good luck with this shoot, it sounds like a real challenge from many perspectives!
EDIT...This forum is full of warm PROFESSIONALS, and we have been around the block a few times. When we read a post like this full of red flags, many of us will be very skeptical. If you want to shoot on RED there is no better place on the Web to post, just do it in the same professional framework that you would like to be treated!
Good Luck with your shoot!
Dave

I'm sorry but even if your crew is in Europe, they should not have to pay to get to your job if you want to hire them--it's totally unprofessional. I still state that if you can't afford to get your crew there then how should we expect to pay them? Any real professional should take great warning at this post as it reeks of an inexperience producer.

needredcrew,
Since this is not an autofocus camera, I highly recommend you hire a 1st ac focus puller and cam op combination. I am not saying it can't be done..but operating and focus pulling at the same time is not easy and an experienced operator that can do both won't be cheap. Focus pulling on the RED with super 35mm depth of field is quite different than focus pulling on a 2/3 inch broadcast eng camera. Just a warning you could either end up with out of focus footage, shakey unstable footage or both.
Much props for giving this a go though. I would LOVE to see more "shot on red" stuff on hdtv.

Tonaci, I agree. It's not the type of camera you can just pickup and go like any ENG or prosumer (remember the DVX Days!) camera and pull focus easily. Also if a lot of it is handheld, and you need to capture the action, there's not enough time to swap primes and a zoom is normally too heavy to cover the proper range required for reality type stuff. A 1st AC is highly required/recommended...actually it's a no brainer as it will make the job extremely difficult for the Operator having to pull focus themselves with 35mm DOF and running around everywhere.
I think it's a great opportunity though if this thing goes ahead as mentioned.

Hello we are in need of 2 camera persons for an 12 country 16 week project.
Crew must be dependable and be able to travel with our cast and crew non stop over the duration of the filming.
Requirements of crew:
•Able to carry your own RED gear, this will include hiking to remote destinations
You are planning to hike to remote destinations with two guys carrying more than 40 lbs of cine equipment all day after which you expect them to make great shots? For 16 weeks ?
Expect unwanted compromises.
Or add a few Sherpas.

Same names slinging the same negativity, give the guy a break. Anytime someone posts for crew they are disected, drawn and quartered publicly with no chance of redemption. Gets a bit tiring after a while. If it doesn't bode well with you pass on it, go check posts that appeal to you, simple. Does everyone have to be an A list producer / director to be taken seriously around here?
needredcrew, good luck with it, hope you find what you need. I'm otherwise engaged but this would have been right up my alley. Nice remote locations, mountain walking with a RED set, invigorating.
Cheers,
Mark.
