View Full Version : What items should we put a reservation/deposit on?

This question was buried inside another thread and I know some of us are trying to make a decision about what to order and how much money to tie up for a year... so I bumped it up.

What items must we - or should we- put a reservation/deposit on?

Will lenses or accessories need to be reserved this far in advance?

Will the $1750 for the camera suffice - or do we have to figure out most of our system in order to get most of it at the same time?

Any advice would help...

thanks,

Aloha,

Hi Keith,

By putting an order on a camera body you will be time stamped, which is effectively your reservation number. When you come to pay up in full you can buy whatever accessories you require, these DO NOT require a reservation in advance.

Lenses are a bit of an unknown quantity at the moment however. We are still waiting for comfirmation as to whether the newer announced lenses will ship as the accessories will (i.e. when the camera is available for delivery) or whether you are required to reserve them in advance. Because the other problem represented here is not knowing how long the queue already is because of reservation holders for the 18-85mm switching to the 18-50mm zoom.

Hey guys,

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere yesterday (sorry - can't remember which thread, so much has happened over the past 24hrs !), that there will be no more 'reservations', ie. That the new orders will be just that 'orders; as opposed to 'reservations'. Whether or not that effects having priority over accessories when your camera ships, I have no idea ? Just thought it might be worth mentioning.

Cheers,

Seth.

Actually, if they are not going to deliver your camera until October-December I would say at this point you are a reservation (actually, this is more like layaway in time for Christmas!)

I emailed Bruce this morning to find out if reservations are refundable, do we need to order lenses and accessory's, and also what reservation number are they upto.

When/if I get a reply I will post.

Orders from Monday onwards are not reservations... they are firm orders.
