Hey Jim,
I was just wondering if you'd be able to let us know what Peter's thoughts on the camera actually were. I mean, I'm sure he loved it, but I was really curious about what he said to you guys after he shot the short.

I asked Graeme that same question and he told me to book a flight to New Zealand and ask Peter himself.

Ouch! Guess, I'll just have to give him a call.

While I'm at it, I should ask for a job too. Can't hurt.

Now where did I put that number?

Asked Jim the same question. What he told me was that as for Peter, he couldn't say anything, but he that he reserved the maximum amount of RED's that they would allow. What are Peter's numbers? Good question. Peter also sent over his DP Richard Bluck, and had a chance to talk to him. Very nice gentlemen. I'm sure most of my post has been covered elsewhere but, it relates. I have other comments about my NAB experience but will post it elsewhere.

It is not our place to comment on Peter's reaction to shooting the RED camera. All I can say is that it was one of the best experiences of my life to be a fly on the wall and watch him work. He was so passionate about this shoot and in control of all that was happening. His team loves working with him... and I completely understand why. He is as delightful as he is capable. He did allow his DP, editor and sound man to come to NAB and answer questions at our booth.

That would be such an amazing experience to see him work! I love watching the King Kong Production diaries / LOTR extended edition discs, but seeing him in real life, working with his passionate team...that must have been truly awesome!!!

cant wait to see some of the footage...man o man

I met and talked to Peter Jackson's sound man at NAB. Really nice guy who didn't mind chattin' it up with a mere reservation holder like myself.

I think it definitely says something that those guys came to NAB and hung out at the RED tent.

I bet Pete Jackson was secretly disguised and hanging around in the RED tent to see the applause from his film.

Offtopic, but I know one director who secretly projects his own films at a very well known theatre as a favourite past time. He's also insanely obsessed with constantly controlling the Aircon temprature of the theatres and ensuring that the popcorn is warm and crisp. You dont get much more full circle than that.

offtopic: warm and crisp popcorn is definitely essential

I think that the overall answer to the question of: did Peter Jackson like RED? is clear, if he used the cameras to film a mini-short film, then he probably has confindence in the quality of the footage...

the question is: will he film "The Lovely Bones" with RED? That would be awesome, I am hoping he will.

I dare say you can't get any more inside info than this.

PJ's inside crew awaiting feedback on the 1st short film he shot on the RedOne is as good as it can get, period!

I think the fact that what started as a test turned into a full blown 2 week shoot tells you he liked the camera!

I need to correct you here... this movie was shot in 2 DAYS (not weeks)! About 2 weeks before NAB started! It was in post about a week and DPX files were hand delivered by Peter's DP (Richard Bluck... another delightful bloke) two days before NAB opened.
