I just would like to know if Scarlet (perhaps having the same file attributes as Red One) can be edited on Final Cut Express and Avid Xpress Pro?

This question simply arises from the fact that the Scarlet market is catered to those who can simply afford a three thousand dollar camera, and therefore, an express version of Final Cut and Avid such as myself.

Your insights are valued. This will guide me in choosing the right equipment to do documentaries at home. Please note I am preparing my edit bay to do the bare essentials in preparation for the Scarlet Camera.

Thank you very much...Fertunk

Better to post it on scarletuser.com , But now you can make home documentary with FC pro. Without problem . And for scarlet there will be some easy software i thing sow.

Thanks Biba. I will get this in the scarlet thread as you suggested. However, it is Final Cut Express not Pro I was referring to. I am inclined to believe that Red files will also run with FCExpress since the main difference between both Final Cuts is the Pro's ability to do colorization and its ability to link to a network and Express' inability to do so. I'd like to confirm this. But of course this is just me. I am the first to admit that I am a novice with such technology-I come from the age of dinosaurs when U matic tapes were in vogue and Betacam was haute-technology. Now that technology is more affordable, it empowers independents like me to pursue projects that were only limited to the "funded ones".

Anyone know the answer to this?

Can you cut with proxies on Final Cut Express?

Any other limitations?
