This may be a dumb question but is this camera going to be able to be used as a field camera in the same way as a Digibeta or XD Cam? If so will it be robust enough?

Peter Jackson "tortured" Boris and Natasha in New Zealand a couple of weeks ago shooting a World War I movie "in the trenches". They were hung from a helicopter, dangled from a crane, put on a Steadicam rig and subjected to sun, wind, dust, dirt clods from real explosions, and all sorts of other kinds of mis-treatment. I was very proud that they "took a licking and kept on ticking".

Hi Jim,

Will we at sometime be able to see footage of a "behind the scenes" or "making of" the short by Peter Jackson? Will be really cool to see some footage of the cameras on set.

Cheers Jim. Im a Kiwi from Welly also, but now have production company in Perth, Australia. We are pretty keen to get our hands on a RED, but we have a concern about product support over here. We are one hell of a long way from you guys. I guess what im asking is are you looking to appoint an agent in Australia/New Zealand any time soon.

Maybe you could send one over here and we could drag it behind a camel in the West Australian desert for 2 weeks and see how it goes?

and with all that "torture", it was recording to the RED DRIVE? I read that somewhere and if that's true, that should alleviate some concern over movement with the hard drive...

I spoke with Deanan..and he confirmed that Red Drives were used and endured significant jolts and vibrations.
