Has anybody any experience of the customs requirements/protocol for sending a camera for repair from the UK back to the US?
I don't really want to pay import duty again!

Hi Nick,
That what a ATA Carnet is for. It's a major pain I used to live in the UK & have US suplied motion control equipment. A couple of times I just flew out waited for repairs & flew back, otherwise equipment can get stuck in customs.

Thanks Stephen, I've used ATA Carnets when I used to travel with equipment, I've since been directed to something called OPR or 'outward processing relief' I think it's a free service from UK customs but it seems quite a complicated process, anyone tried it?

Hi,
I have used done it that way, but clearing customs can take time. It helps if the same shipping co is used for both directions & you rely on the paperwork being correctly filled in on the return.
