We just got the red cam here, and are having some trouble taking the body cap off, and installing the nikon lens mount? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And the nikon mount? Seems the little screws which came with it aren't catching? Does anyone know where I can find a detailed walkthrough for attaching the nikon mount properly? Again, any information is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you still havent removed the ring from behind the PL mount, the nikon mount should sit flush inside the back focus adjustment.

Many thanks for this thread - Doug U's and Gotham's video tutorials helped enormously with the install of the Nikon mount which I found to be, at moments, a tiny bit dicey but on balance pretty straight forward.

Doug is the creator, his method is the safe one...mine (GothamGuerrilla) just shows its simple and can be done in a pinch. I have been on 3 shoots already where I had to change out PL to F mount in the field and time was money....no problems so far. Glad I could help.

cheers.

If I would like to pay someone to install my Red Nikon mount for me (and then back to PL again as needed) in the Hollywood area, who would you all recommend I use and do you have any idea what they charge for the swap?

Marcus, I understand you being a bit gun-shy on this, I was too -- but if you take your time, it really is easy and straightforward. Depending on where you are in LA (I'm near USC) I'd be glad to walk you through it. I've done it three or four times, each time gets easier.

But seriously, just take your time -- and as C.H. says, follow Doug's instructional video.

Yes, be cautious (as in don't drop screws onto OLPF) but otherwise it's very straightforward. The only other thing to be aware of. If you have an earlier camera, the hex screws were overtightened a bit and some people had trouble removing them. Mine were tight, but I was just very careful and didn't force anything. Later cameras I believe are shipping with Torx screws and shouldn't have this problem.

Honestly, once you get the hang of it, this process takes 5-7 minutes tops.
