View Full Version : Laptop as Monitor?
Is there a way to connect a Macbook Pro to a Red One camera as a monitor? If so what software and cables would be needed?

Yes but not HD monitor. Sow if you will downconvert signal from 720p to to SD , then you can buy any FireWare Capture or USB device , and then youse FC to capture on just sow picture .

Yes , after downconverting and then compressing with FW image will be funny , but for Director it will be ok.
Also to get SD signal from RED ONE you need to buy AJA and pay 1099 for it , When price on RED LCD is 2500 .
Sow i thing that better to get RED LCD , and also AJA . Because i can not understand how to work without EVF or LCD on set.
yes this is just for the director. I have a EVF and LCD monitor but he wants something... anything to look at!

Monitor out via HDMI to a hi def monitor or via the HDSDI to a monitor.

I get pretty good results via HDMI with a 360,- Euro 24" monitor from LG.

I think with the Matrox MXO2 you can do HDSDI monitoring (and capturing and converting, etc) on a MacBook Pro.
