What media can I get for my Red today?

My Red drive just died!

I am working with Red to get it fixed, but I have more shoots coming up and only have 2 8GB CF cards.

Are 8GB CF cards the only media shipping right now. Is there any other media I can buy and have shipped today?

we recently bought a load of 8gb Lexar CF cards due to the lack of RED Drives and they work fine, they are very reasonably priced at the moment also. I took each one gently from the packaging and ran a full card worth of footage straight into it. Then played back to make sure each card was up to the job, we have been using them for a 10 days now, alongside the RED cf cards.

Which Lexar 8gb card are you using? There are several on their website. I would guess the Professional 300x UDMA CF card.

Yep, that's the one.

Lexars are $155 at B&H with an $80 mail in rebate - only $75 each. While maybe not as reliable as the Red CF's, in a pinch they could do.

Ours have been completely reliable. No difference at all between these and RED cards.
