1,the is an error message saying media too slow
2, there is another message saying media is mounting,

whats going on?

Call Red. They may be able to help.
Where are you? Maybe there is another Red user who can rent you a replacement body.
I would have suggested checking the drive cable, but you say CF cards don't work either?
Have you tried dropping back to RC28? The throughput of 36 may be the culprit.
Cheers,
Harry

there shouldnt be a speed issue with the drives.. however. if you are receiving the "not speed verified" thing on the cf cards.. it could be an age issue. when did you get your cards?

i only tried using the cf cards to msee if it was a drive issue, it is a rental from a friend and he happens to be in china for the olympic games, I have been using the hard drive, however it was used with the compact flash cards exclusively by different filmmakers this weekend to shoot a video

it is really acting up, it reboots fully ready for operation,it says drive is not formated, you format it says formating successful, then it reverts to unformatted, you reboot its ready then when i press record it gives me an error code I have no clue about

shashbugu

I would try resetting the camera parameters as a debug step.

SYSTEM / SETUP / MAINTENANCE / RESTORE

Check all the boxes, hit RESTORE and power cycle the camera.

Next thing I would do is re-format your media if that can be done (i.e you don't have any clips on there that you need to keep)

What is the CF card type that you are using BTW ?

i am not using cf card just the red drive, i only tested the cf cards to see if itwas a camera or drive problem, sean sent me upgrade files but they fail to updrade half way

shashbugu

to upgrade i put the redone.su card in a folder named upgrade, the camera recognizes this, startsbthe upgrade wiyh the blue scan line then reports failed to upgrade
