Will Red win the much deserved award ?

Who else deserves it more? IMO nobody...

I, for one, would be surprised if it didn't!

Red should win IMO.

Final Cut Pro was nice but everyone expected most of the features. Nobody was calling Final Cut 6 vaporware.

When you look at what has happened in the last 18 months it's astounding. I was totally skeptical. Jim Jannard of Oakley making a camera??? No way. I realized the guy was a fan of photography but that didn't mean I thought he could execute on designing a groundbreaking camera.

Jannard and the rest of the Red Team you are geniuses. Thank you for delivering so many people's "Best of NAB 2007"

Jim Jannard of Oakley making a camera??? No way. I realized the guy was a fan of photography but that didn't mean I thought he could execute on designing a groundbreaking camera.

When I saw that he had a company in 'his portfolio' (i.e, he can start a business) and saw he had the resources (i.e. a billion +) I knew he would do it.

He can hire the people to execute the design ground breaking camera. :)
It did seem people thought he had to be an expert. Most people at the top do not know the ins and outs of the business, nor do they need to...that is an idea that people on the lower ladder have. (not a criticism, its something I found out myself from experience) So again, he had met the two main criteria...he showed he had done it before and he had the money to get the resources to make it happen...this showed it would succeed. (The passion obviously was and is there to, without, obvioulsy, nothing would happen.)

Peace

Dalen

I know better now. I will not count out Billionairs with persistent vision any longer.

You know what I really like. Red isn't some conglomerate that develops products in the hopes of pushing their own home grown technology...cough..Panasonic..cough..P2/flash...cough...Sony...cough Blu-ray.

Red One employes the CE version of Occams Razor. Whatever gives them the best performance and easiest use is where they are going. No "NIH" (Not Invented Here) syndrome is sweet.

I see RED Digital Cinema RED One won awards in two different categories at NAB 2007:

2007 Videography Vidy Awards

Kudos RED...IMO they are well-deserved...
