Anybody out there have recomendations on good software for:

A. Logging and archiving library footage
B. Digitizing and retrieval

My current workflow from tape has been same as anyone out there:
1. view and mark ins & outs
2. log time codes
3. and descriptions

NOW: been working for a while with TAPELESS AQUISITION, and it's been fairly similar, BUT....I like many of you have loads of footage on many different formats and ultimately I NOW want to digitize all of my tape and store to hard drives as well as get rid of my PAPER LOGS and File Maker Pro logs.....

Looking for a software program to:
1. build my OWN template with data I want to see
2. Digitize multiple formats of tape stock
3. Recognize metadata from P2 aquisitions
4. LOG and Library it.....on multiple hard disks----WITH paths back to their stored loctions--so that when I do a search for a shot....I can then click on the image of that shot see that clip.

.....I have to think I'm not alone out there. I've got years of notebooks laying around and three years of FILE MAKER PRO data to log/search for my stock. BUT----there must be an easier way to archive and pull shots with a simple search and click to view said clips.

***WHAT I'VE FOUND***
HD Logger by Imagine Products
(I have not used it nor used the demo since it locks up my MacBook Pro due to an Isight issue) BUT, it looks to do everything I ask. Anyone have some insight to this program AS WELL as any others worth considering?

Thanks for your input.....

I use a small, maybe need an upgrade, Mac app called Foot Track. There is no limit to the amount of keywords you can build for your retrieval requirements. I normally log the Scientific names of the wildlife I film, log the common name, behaviour of the clip if any, head on, profile or whatever. This allows me to do very fine searches for the correct clips. I like it. It may be a bit "Mickey Mouse" for 4k use though.

Final Cut Server may be worth a look at down the track, if you're a Mac user...

here's a few:
Cumulus (www.canto.com)
Portfolio (www.extensis.com)
Mediaboard One (www.mediaboardone.com)

and I think the best is Artbox (www.proximitygroup.com)

Server looks ideal.
I have to say that Imagine Products with HD Logger is REALLY nice as well. But sure like apple products and ease of integration into other apple products like FCP.

Here's the detail page for Server:

Thanks!!
