Well, I've been an active "lurker" on here for quite some time following the developments of this amazing rig. So today I finally pulled the trigger on the Premium Production Package. Does anybody have any idea how long it will take from order to actually getting the camera? I don't recall seeing anything on here or at red.com that talked about it.
Thanks in advance for any info you can share!

Anyway, Paul, I read that the expected timeframe for new orders is around spring 2008

Hey paul, since reserved cameras prior to NAB were close to 1500, you should expect your camera to arrive November/December at best...
Good Luck!

I placed my order yesterday and had been told that if I placed an order this week, that it would be shipped in Spring 2008. I am guessing that either they had an amazing amount of orders this week, or they are just lying to us to suddenly in November tell us our camera is ready. I would bet on getting a camera around Dec-Feb if you order right now. It seems crazy that they would sell 1500-2000 cameras in one week (which is what it would take since there timeline has cameras 2500-3300 in Dec), but maybe they did and that's why it will be spring before we get one.

Thanks to all who have replied!
This is starting to get crazy based on what Mac stated above. It looks like I'm going to have to break down and buy a couple of Panasonic HVX200s to hold me over until the Red Rig arrives. I truly hope that the lead times are not into next Spring, that would put a sever dent in my production schedule (based on bringing the Red Rig into the frey).

Ditto.
I ordered on the 18th - not in response to NAB, but having continually checked the site on a regular basis, it was only then that the ability to order through the site appeared - and in a highly impulse means, I ordered my rig.
I've still not received a confirmation - so I don't know where I stand - not a great start.

So i got off the phone with red Thursday mournning after my Order confermation didnt come. What I got from him was this. All the orders are time stamped. And the IT guys are working like hell to resolve all the website issues and confirmation issues. Everyone will be back in the office by the end of the week (by now I presume) and we should know our serial #'s by mid week next week.
Hope this helps a little.

Expect it in early 2008... unless something changes. You know how it goes.

Thanks for that info. I ordered on the same day and have been checking my email every five minutes for a confirmation!
Now I can chill and wait until next week and go back to editing so I can make some money to pay for all this! :matrix:

The reason why you probably haven't received confirmation is because everyone is working at NAB this week.
If you didn't want to buy HVXs you could always rent from the 1500+ people that have cameras and by then would know the workflow and would be able to help you with your first red shoot.

Well I'm just going to hang back until mid next week before I call them. I'm sure they are going to be SLAMMED coming back from NAB, so I wanted to let the dust settle just a bit.
Based on what I've seen in this thread, I don't really expect my rig to get here until next year. On the bright side, it gives me and my team a chance to earn enough to pay for it plus all the extras I'm going to need!

Yeah, as for a confirmation... just wait. The whole RED team was at NAB this week and they're recovering now. I'm sure they'll get to you soon. If not, contact Kelly.
