Hey, I shot a 12 minute short on Red and the guys over at Hollywood Intermediate who specialize in 2k/4k film based DI's, mastered my show with some great workflow/expertise (I had worked on a full length 35mm feature their a few months back). I was suprised to find out they were actually doing multiple theatrical features shot on Red (they had a Linday Lohan Pic and two other features going out to 35mm shot on RED). They wrote their own software to replace Crimson (which is limited to a few clips) for their DPX Log exports which exports an entire feature w/pre build handles, different looks, etc for importing to Filmlight's Baselight. At that point they treated my project as if it were a film DI. They auto conformed on Baselight matching opticals, repos to the offline. Their colorist who graded on Baselight requested a few different exports from the I/O department if the contrast or overall levels were needed ajusting from the overall setting that was used to export all of the clips. Thier color science/3D LUTS that they use on all of their film based features translated exactly to 35mm recorder, HD masters and D-Cinema. FYI - I hear they are now doing file based dailes for Avid or FCP hard drive delivery and handling all of the archiving and project mangement.
