Is the firewire from the Red drive 6 or 9 pin?

also will show up from USB with Power adapter

It works on my mac book pro although a gtech drive plus a red drive doesn't work. Too much power draw?

In that case probably, so you might want to use the supplied D.C adaptor.

Ah. I thought that the power adapter was just for USB.

G-tech doesn't have powered ports coming from their enclosures...
Ive hooked up the Red-Drive hundreds of Times without AC adapter... even to Western Digital Enclosures (which are the ultimate in terrible). Another reason NOT to buy G-tech.. no powered ports... ugh... Other world Computing has great enclosures that are always sending Bus-power over 6 and 9 pin. AND they don't fall asleep!
