From what I gather, RED was envied by just about every other company at NAB. I heard that some other camera company was touting that it was "evolutionary" as a play on RED's revolutionary claim, assuming that RED would not live up to it's claims. Well, I'm glad you guys proved them all wrong.

What is amazing is that the RED camera benefits high budget Hollywood movies all the way "down" to Wedding videographers. Due to it's small size (and almost disposable-ness, cost wise) it can be used in places other cameras could only dream of.

The RED camera, along with digital projection (and 3-D projection) is going to revolutionize the "film" industry. The biggest part about breaking into the film industry has been the cost of the film itself, let alone the cameras, lighting equipment, etc. Now, for the price of a good new car, the RED camera can be purchased with the image quality exceeding 35mm.

What is most exciting is that that Hollywood's total and absolute control over the theaters will come to an end. Theater owners will be able to choose what films they show, when they show them, and for how long with greater flexibility than ever before. Every multiplex in the country could be able to set aside a small number of screens just for true independent and local films without any fuss or sacrifice.

I left film school 11 years ago disappointed in the inherit road blocks at the time to enter the film business, now I am 11 years wiser, richer, and now have the ability to actually make the movies I have envisioned and written. Surely not everyone will be able to take advantage of the incredible gift that RED offers; a film is much more than just image quality, but it gives the few out there with the gift to tell a story a chance of making it where they would have not been able to do before.

Thank you Mr. Jannard. Thank you for proving that the American "Can Do" spirit is still alive in this world out outsourcing and lower standards. Thank you for giving me a shot at some of my dreams.

I have to second Sevenout's sentiment and extend a big thanks to Steve Jobs and the team at Apple, too. The Apple/RED marrriage is a beautiful thing. I've been slugging it out in a tough market for more than 20 years. The tools you guys are providing are giving us a real competitive edge and are making our jobs oh so much more fun.

By the way, Ted if you're ever looking for work give us a buzz. Great job on the marketing of RED.
