See it. It's brilliant. I saw it tonight and it blew my mind. It's very rare to see a film that makes a mark on you after you leave the theater.
And it's shot on film, take a break fanboys and see the beauty of real organic film grain.

Amazing movie. The incredibly long takes! Wow. This deserves a best picture nod and if not a best director one. Cuaron!

A very good movie. The last half an hour is just almost to much. But it is never over the top. It will get a best pic NOD.

my favorite film of this past year - although I have yet to see Pan's Labyrinth....Lubezki is amazing and I can't believe he was not nominated by the DGA.

Now Pan's Labyrinth is an amazing film and I have to say is pulling hard for me as the best movie of the year IMHO. You need to see it.

Children of Men, Pan's Labyrinth & Babel... Impressive trilogy! I read that Cuaron, DelToro and Iņarritu decide to produce the movies at the same time to be able to confront with others doing same things at same time but not to be on others set/post-prod. May be we've to go studing direction at Mexican public TV! Great directors remainds me to the generation of Martin, Francis, George, Steven...
I dream to see what Guillermo, Alejandro & Alfonso will do with RED in their hands!

I was totally amazed with CoM. Not only for the realistic portrayal of life, but with everything that Cuaron did with the camera. The guy is a visualist.

Has anyone ever played Half Life 2? The last 30 mins of the movie reminded me a lot of the atmosphere and action in the game.

As mexicans I think we had the privilege to see it here first than the rest of the world. It blew my mind the first time and still does after the fourth. I hadn't seen something so good since City of God.
Here's a lenghty interview of Charlie Rose to Cuaron, Iņarritu and Del Toro, it's a good laugh, informative and entertaining:

Babel and Pan's Laberynth are also wondeful and compelling films. Regardind Iņarritu I didn't like any of his prior works but this one really nails it. Prieto's cinematography and use of film formats is masterful. And if it weren't for CoM, Pan's would have been my year's favorite film. Amazingly crafted and totally accomplished storytelling in all 3 of them.
Being from the same country as they are, this is a huge inspiration to stop bitching and start working! It definitly is the year of mexican film directors! :D

Lubezki should be a lock for best cinematography at the Oscars. He should have won last year, too. AC has a nice article about CoM in the issue with Casino Royale on the cover.

I can't believe that in a board of cinematographer's, talking about CoM nobody has mentioned the unbelievable long shots inside the car and entering the building!!!!
One of the best movies of 2006 (well, besides Salvador (http://www.salvadorfilm.com/english/) were I worked xD)

I leaned over to my friend during the begining of the film and said the exact same thing. It felt like Half-Life 2 the movie; especially the subjective camera. The grittyness and the battle sequences reminded me of Saving Private Ryan. Really great film; what I like to call a breath of fresh air. Fortunately I've had a few of those this season. This should def be up for a DOP award.
ALSO: POSSIBLE SPOILER!
was anyone else horrified when the flaming car came down the hill? I was!

I couldn't agree more, COM was an amazing film. So many great things about it from the finest details on up. It really moved me. A friend of mine told me "The War Within" was a great movie that moved him and it was produced by HDfilms (Mark Cuban's venture). So I am assuming it was shot in HD. I wonder if he will acquire the Žed camera for his production company.

I gotta give credit where credit is due for this amazin film:COM's direction, script, the actors and the production design!! They really made this film what it is.... i love the cinematography and the long takes and all but that's only part of it! Did you guys notice that it doesn't really use music at all! That's something Hollywood could learn from.... i mean Hollywood flicks usually put music wall to wall!

This movie was really good and I liked the story it had to tell. I like stories that make us look at your lives and think could it get this bad. Also the look of it was really cool and the battle at the end was really intense.

best movie i've seen in a year. the long shots were so amazing. i've always loved post-apocalyptic settings and this movie has one of the best. That being said, the world in that movie seems like a more realistic future now than it did 10 years ago...:(

Again, I've not heard anybody on this board suggest that the RedOne is better than film. We're all glad to have a viable digital option, that's all! Mr No-fanboy!!! (lol)

My wife said she didn't like it. I asked her, "Why, what didn't you like?"
She said, "It left me wanting more."
I said, "Then you liked it."
It was a great film, and I hate movies.
When is Pan's coming to SLC?!!!!
