View Full Version : Steadicam - Anyone tried making one?

I was looking at http://www.homebuiltstabilizers.com/ and some of the steadicams there. Some are poor but some are pretty good, such as this one:

Certainly the arm looks good. Must've been some serious work to get it like that.

Has anyone at reduser.net ever tried making one before?

By the way I'm not thinking of doing it. Although I think it might be quite fun actually... I might make a mini one out of lego lol.

Yes, ten years ago ( okay my dad did it - sorry, no pics )
But itīs not worth the trouble, it took lots and lots of work
to build something that rarely performs as a commercial one,
not to talk about reliability.

BTW, the linked one is surely a (semi-) rip-off of Camtechīs rig:

Checked it, very nice ( and heavy arm ), full rig for 36.000 Euro
