Wow.. that's very cool.
Everything RED makes looks so industrial.
I feel 10 times more manly just for owning a RED ONE.
In fact I'm off to go and have a shave, I can feel the stubble growing just looking at the store. :weight_lift:

It'll take 7 hours to get your store from my house.
Let´s see....
It will take me approx.:
Home-Gardermoen Oslo Airport, approx. 45 mins.
Gardermoen-London Heathrow, approx. 150 mins.
waiting for connecting plane at heathrow, approx. 160 mins.
Heathrow-LAX, apporx 11 hrs
Then there is getting through the MAYHEM that is US immigration, feeling like a war refugee... 1 hr
Then getting to AVIS (or other car rental) via shuttlebus and waiting at the counter. approx 30 mins
THEN THIS:
Driving directions to Valencia Cir, Lake Forest, CA 92630
55.9 mi – about 59 mins (up to 1 hour 50 mins in traffic)
Los Angeles International
Los Angeles Int'l Airport
1. Head west on W Century Blvd toward Vicksburg Ave 0.3 mi
2. Turn left at S Sepulveda Blvd 0.8 mi
3. Take the ramp onto I-105 E 17.1 mi
4. Take the exit onto I-605 N 1.7 mi
5. Take the exit onto I-5 S/Santa Ana Fwy toward Santa Ana 27.3 mi
6. Take exit 96B to merge onto CA-133 N toward Santa Margarita
Partial toll road
3.3 mi
7. Take exit 14A to merge onto CA-241 S toward Santa MargaritaToll road 4.7 mi
8. Take the Lake Forest Dr exit 0.3 mi
9. Turn right at Lake Forest Dr 0.1 mi
10. Turn left at Rancho Pkwy 0.2 mi
11. Turn right at Windrow Dr 377 ft
12. Turn right at Fuerte Dr 276 ft
13. Fuerte Dr turns slightly left and becomes Valencia Circle 75 ft
Valencia Cir
Lake Forest, CA 92630
Which gives me a total travelling time of somewhere between 19 hrs 25 minutes and 20 hrs 15 minutes, depending on LA traffic...
Given that the plane will land 3.05pm local time, That makes the time for arrival at the RED store somewhere between 5.35pm and 6.25pm
Will you be open then?
*To accomplish this schedule I wil have to set my alarm clock to approx 8.30pm LA local time (which means 05.00 in the morning my time - and I will arrive at 2.35am Norway time) the day BEFORE I intend to shop at the RED store.
The price to get there will be somewhere between 1400 US$ and 1900 US$ (includes going back home the NEXT day) not counting accomodations.... I think I will stick to fedex for now...
BTW: Great looking store, I ´d love to go there u know!

Kelly, I'll be needing a 10 ft LCD cable pretty quickly and would love to make the drive down to pick it up and have a chance to see the splendid new store.
If the web store does not say anything about backorder or limited supply, can I assume I would be likely to find it on hand in the Lake Forest store?
Congratulations on the opening!

I seem to remember, in getting directions that it used to say 'swim' on googlemaps or multimap when putting in directions across the Atlantic!
As much as I would like to cross the pond to see you and pay my respects to the Red Altar, I'd rather save the money for RED GEAR. You understand don't you, its nothing personal. I'm a sucker for working cheap, helping out all the Indie's in the area, such a humble living doesn't pay you know!!! In fact Lobsang, a Tibetan monk friend of mine, lives a more materialistic life than I.
---thinking about it being Tibetan, he wears the RED colour scheme, I'm gonna have to turn him into a walking RED billboard. Watch this space. photo's will arrive!

I came in to drop off my EVF for repair yesterday and they let me wait in the store. I think I may be the first "public" customer. :)
Sorry DorkmanScott... I was their first public customer as confirmed by Randy and Kelly, who were super welcoming of me to their new store. I took a visit out to LA on the 1st week of Sept, then decided to check out the Red store in Lake Forest. I called ahead, but the lady said they weren't open yet and not doing any tours. I had just flown to LA from DC, so I wasn't gonna let that stop me.
I drove down 1.5 hours to Red HQ on Sept 4th, walked in the front door and the receptionist was very friendly, even offered me and my friend drinks and candy. I took some pictures in the lobby. And then came Randy and Kelly from the new Red store and invited me in.
I took many pictures and even got to test out a Red one for the first time. Never thought I would be able to lay my hands on one of these things, and the 1080p monitor was showing footage shot on Red. The images are unlike any HD footage I've seen before. It looks equal, if not, better than film images.
They also had a Post station for demo too. I got pictures with Randy and Kelly. Can I post them here with your permission?
I was aslo the first non Red employee to own a Red employee t-shirt, and even tested out their new credit card ordering system.
This is by far, the highlight of my LA drip and definitely worth the drive from LA to Lake Forest. You guys are the coolest. All the people I met there were super nice.
I am buying the Scarlet in 2009, and maybe sometime in the not-too-distant future, I will get to shoot on Red or Epic. Keep up the great work guys.

I'm with you Tail END. Why RED didn't follow the world-wide trend of completely boring sales floors is beyond me. They traded that wonderfully clean, sterile, smells like hospital and catheter bags feeling, for a over-the-top, industrial-military-tech feeling. Does that make sense to anyone here? I mean no normal person, in their right mind, could make any connection between this and RED's products. I have an idea, maybe you could come in at the "TAIL END" and give some of your obviously qualified advice on store creation. From all the posts so far, I think we can safely say that your qualified remarks are in the majority. I think RED could use some good advice on how to become industry leaders. Or... maybe TAIL END, needs to wake up and realize what the RED revolution is all about.

Awesome!!
I will definitely make the trip out there once the snow flies. What better than to kill 2 birds with one stone and get a tan whilst checking out the new digs.
BTW...Winnipeg is right smack dab in the middle of Canada...maybe a Canadian store could be in the works??

Do you have any DSLR-killers in stock on the retail shelves? Heck, I'll even buy your working discarded Scarlet prototype off you. I called it first. Hold it for me, I'm on my way.

Went to the store, grabbed some new shirts and carbon fiber rods (these rule) - then I saw the wallpaper on the monitor.
Any chance you guys will share the skull with wings wallpaper?
Please?

CONGRATS!
A question: can we paid via credit card from outside the store?
Credit card is a faster paid metod than webstore....:nerd:
