Alliances and Co-Productions

I guess we're gonna be developing quite a data base of skills and personnel here so it's only fair to assume that alliances are gonna be forged and developed by certain entities represented by the wealth of people here. I have a very good friend in Finland who put's his success as a TV producer and personality to the modular design of his production company.

He, along with six others, decided many years ago to set about launching their production company with each individual catering to the supply of equipment and the running of the relevant departments of the company. His company is now one of the most successful natural history / environmental journalism production companies in Finland.

This is pretty much what I am thinking of with regards to RED and the future. With the prohibitive costs involved far and above those of the camera and basic requirements just to get it running and producing imagery I for one will be looking to develop professional working relationships with production companies around the world. In turn those production companies will be able to promote their "Wet Environment Capability" to prospective clients without having the need to go to the added expense of purchasing all of the underwater materials for RED, believe me thats gonna be an expensive road.

Something to think about if you are planning to build a RED based production entity.

Great concept. Though I think geography might play a particularly expressive force. I'm in Minneapolis if any one needs a cheap, high-value director, cameraman or editor!
The data base might be most effective if sorted along three dimensions: location, skills, equipment

Definitely good to have some sort of Red Community to support each other around the world. We already have an online community, a real life one will be great.

But most importantly is to get more people interested in such alliance.

This is just a concept idea as we are all aware of each other here. I would imagine if a REDCORE member has some kind of specific need or knowledge regarding RED and any application that this is the place they will start their search. Whether that requirement is for a specific skill / application or 3rd party product support I can really see that this is the "Pool" from where to extraxt those requirements.

With the advent of Internet people don't need too be in the same building in order to work together. This site will develop not just into the nerve centre of all things RED but will also serve as a "HQ" for cyber-alliances which will be formed in the future. That was more of the scenario I was figuring on.

Networking and alliances are the core of any business. RED One owners are a relatively small group in numbers, but geographically diverse. REDUser is a great way to network with other RED One owners. Acquiring and learning about technology is obviously important, but the next critical factor in business success is putting that technology and learning to good fiscal use. I don't know if RED User will set up a specific networking or alliance forum, but private messages and emails are an obvious avenue for that.

I think its important for each of us to be aware of the background and capabilities of as many other RED One owners as we can. That way when we have a need to hire in or collaborate with other RED One owners/users, we know exactly who to contact. RED User is a tremendous start down that road. I'm sure Jarred will have some good ideas and input on how to take that to the next step!

I see it this way.
Someone finally used the greatly earned money (with remarkable history behind it)
to combine creativeness, visions, will and proffesionalism
to create something great
-and provided it closer then ever to the people who need it.
With all that, breakthroughs in technology gave us an opportunity to create and do buisness regardless of yesterday's boundaries.

Given all the miracles, we would all be fools not to use them.

The price of learning and improving ourselves daily is not really an effort. Who sees it as an effort chose the wrong occupation.
To me it's a rollercoaster ride. An "essentia" for motion. Life is motion.

We are here because we belived in Red.
We are here because we want to create.
Because we like it.

It's not easy to do it in real life, to team up and put together people who might share only one such passion, but I already had similar experience with other dvxusers from the forum, which I met in person. It is much widely spread yet, I am not aware of such a database within the community of DVX100 owners.

At this moment I cannot aford RED, but I will be working hard to have it and would love to contribute to the future RED Alliance. I have been writing in my blog about similar aspects as CamDiver. Some of it is in languages other than english, but maybe someone will recognize stuff to adopt for his project.

I greet the innitiative and if owning a RED ends up being a requisite to figure on such DB, my time will surely come and I'll be there maybe even by next year. I'm sure it would have been more than usefull to have access to such a valuable source of human resouces and technical pool that such a DB would become.
