Just wondering how close we are to seeing a flash drive capable of storing a 2 hour 2k/4K movie.
I for one would love to see the end of DVD's encoding, burning etc. Imagine being able to create multiple flash movies in HD/2K/4K at the one time and making changes on the fly.
Sorry just noticed I posted in the wrong section, too little sleep !!

Its all a mater of cost. The cost must become close to the cost of current media used today. I would say we are about 2 years out maybe 3.

RedRay. Buy a few and hand them out to your clients as Christmas presents!
We did that with DVD players in the 'olden days.' Makes a big splash.

Hi Jim !
While I Think the Red Ray will be a good professional product. I for one cant wait to see the end of Discs. Red Ray will be great for many things and a must have tool for professionals working in HD and 4K. But personally I feel Flash is where the next major advancement must be. The uptake of Blue-Ray has been slow in the consumer market. Even now most of my commercial HD work (non broadcast) is burnt to SD DVD'ds. People are just reluctant to invest in Blue-Ray Players. I think Red Ray will be a good stop gap for the professional user but for me flash is where the next big advance will be. Imagine no format restrictions and the ability to create and play any quality from SD to 4K or beyond. No more formating, burning. I think the potential will be enormous. The question is how long is it going to take ?
Just my 2 cents.
