I am one of those people who uses a separate audio recorder with my RED (A Cantar X2, but this will apply to Sound Devices as well).
Through testing I have found that only normal timecode is coming out of the timecode out on the LEMO port. Even if you select Edge Code.
This is an important ommission. The reason is that using EdgeCode (Or Record Run as us Ex-Eng guys call it) allows us to slave the Recorders to the cameras, and they will automatically start and stop as the cameras do. Sensing the LTC timecode start in the camera will engage the recording, and conversly when RED stops, the recorder will sense the freeze and pause.
I would like to request that when we select EdgeCode in the menu, that only EdgeCode comes out of the Lemo Port.
Thank you
