FYI -

On August 13, 2008, the new rules governing the issuance of film permits by the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting went into effect. Under these rules, a permit is no longer required when a person uses a camera, tripod and other any handheld equipment, and is not asserting exclusive use of City property. A tripod is now considered handheld equipment.

A permit would be reuired for filming if equipment or vechicles, as defined in the rule, are used or if the person filming asserts exclusive use of City property.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Mayor's Office at, 212-489-6710

That's great news. Still means you should keep as low a profile so the cops don't claim you are "asserting exclusive use" of their property.

What is important is to be respectful to Officers, pedestrians, business owners, etc.

The Mayor's Office hates getting complaints.

Be nice and respectful to everyone - it goes a long way.

also agreed that respect and politeness go a long way both in life and in business regardless of situation.
