hi everyone,

I'm editing my first film using the RED camera in FCP and After Effects, and it's a short with lots of digital tweaks - so almost everything will need to spend some time in after effects...

This is probably a total newb question, but why is it that i can see my proxy file that ends in "p" in After Effects, but the other sizes (the useful sizes) come negative and 3 colour? Anyways, I figure this is what all the "native support any day now" stuff is about, but just in case I'm totally missing something I thought I'd ask...

I'm stuck to rendering from quicktime (cause REDALERT is just a fuss) until that adobe thingy is sorted right?

If you are on an Intel Mac with OS X 10.5 it might be worth it to have a look at Clipfinder (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18371). The Help function has details about rendering and conforming. More convenient rendering is coming "soon".

Hi Mike,

Bringing the reference files (proxies) into AE for tweaks isn't the best idea since the footage hasn't been properly debayered (processed.) It's really a preview file.

For the best results, you need to use RedCine or RedAlert to create new DPX, TIFF or QTs for AE.

Yes, the announced Adobe workflow will change this, but if you're editing today, it's your best best.

Cheers,

Jim
