Red Team,
Thank you all for a great day filled with useful information. A special thanks to Michael for the super illumination on workflows and all of your advice. Everyone was a huge help and it was great meeting all of you. John, thanks for your help, as well as the always gracious Kelly.
The Red Reel from IBC was awesome, truly. It is so inspiring to see such wonderfully talented people using the camera and to be able to see the footage in all its glory in 4K. Wow. My hat's off to whomever shot the chipmunk. Hysterical.
You guys/gals are doing incredible things and don't hear enough "Thanks". So, thank you for creating such an incredible product and busting your butts to get it to the masses. Thanks Jim.
Oh, and Jarred, that is some wild paint scheme you've got there on your car.
Best,
Mark Phelan

And of course Jarred would be so nice that he actually uploads a few snaps of his car, now the cat's out?

Cute, but don't forget some of us who spent $50,000 on RED products didn't have time to fly across country for a 4 hour session. :-) Wish I could have made it, but...
Hopefully there aren't any things being shared exclusively to people only because they live close by.

Exactly, same here... why can't the very busy/geographically distant owners not get some love on workflow videos and pdf's?
Yep agree. I have asked RED about this before. RED clearly sold camera internationally but it isnt happening for international customer RED DAY.

The first rule of RED DAY is that you do not talk about RED DAY. :)

I did as asked and never mentioned anything beforehand. Just a heartfelt thanks for the effort put forth. And as for the geographically challenged, you know, it's your call. I am on the other side of the country and decided it was worth my while to go. I should also let you know that I wasn't the longest distance traveller. Not even close.

As a fellow Red owner living in Los Angeles, if I had ever been to a Red Day, whatever that is, I can tell you that it's a really cool and fun experience, but there's nothing exclusive or excluding about it.

Dudeman,
Fair enough, and I don't disagree with anything you've said. My apologies if I caused any "issues" about the Day. I was torn about going myself, long way to go for only 4 hours. For me, it was worth the trip. But that doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to have additional resources like you. Absolutely.
Cheers.

Jarred, I hope you didn't take my post as being critical.
The thing is, for some reason, there is a little "secretive" aspect to this. We would love to have come, but it just didn't make sense to spend a couple thousand dollars (travel, hotel, downtime) to go for a half day. A friend of mine who also bought a RED, went around and around whether we had any idea what it was...and should therefore spend what could be 2 RED Raids to go see you guys. We both opted for the RED Raids. :-)
It's a great idea to have an "owners only" event where people are asking real questions & getting face time with you guys. It's just the veil of secrecy ("don't talk about RED day") that makes me wonder what I missed.
If the event is truly just face time with you guys, and some good Q&A, well, no offense, but it's probably not worth a cross-country trip for a half day. :-)
So, not trying to ruin a good thing at all. Just wondering what we missed...

Remember guys, when you buy a camera from one of the major non-RED camera vendors, all you get is a box. RED offers, among many other free extras, an optional day. They don't have to offer that, it's just one of those nice extra RED offerings.
Personally I would love to have the option to combine the day with camera pick-up, which would give me the best of both worlds. But I also know that this would be just too much extra work for RED. So in about 2 month's time I have to decide whether to spend 2 thousand bucks for the trip to California, or whether to forgo that experience.
(And maybe one day, when the European Service Centre opens, there will be held Red days there?)

Like Jason, I'm have no clue what this RED DAY stuff is, but if had gone (let's say the same day as Mark, Hey!) then I'd tell you that everything discussed was fairly elementary. Or excuse me, not elementary, but I dare to say most of the info could be found on RED.com, and the rest is discussed often and in more depth here on REDuser. Very fun event, but if you just can't make it happen, 4 hours on reduser could potentially cover just as much.

Anyone worried or disgruntled or saddened should trust these words.
