Do we really need a FW 800 port?
http://www.red.com/nab/epic

Cant see a scenario where to use it...

the only concern would be for me:

WITH A FW 800 Port us europeans can forget to pay 0% custom fees.
With a FW 800 port the epic will be differntly categorized and the europeans will pay around 10- 14 % custom fees.....

thats immense when thinking about the nominal price of the body.

4k usd just for a FW 800 Port?
I dont think that the FW 800 Port is worth it.

please red dropp the FW 800 port!!!

i would prefer to buy assecoires from you guys for that money :)

Why's that then? I pay 0% on hard drives with a FW800 port, why does adding one to a camera make a difference?

For Denmark the crucial thing is "Digital". As long as it's a digital camera it's 0% tax :innocent:

Sounds like we need to do some careful research.

the argumenation was that a FW 800 port could allow in theory to transfer footage back to the cam....like with camcorders.

and as long as there is a fw 800 port it can be enabled

the taric code the custom guy said was 85258099000 and treated with 12,5 %
for imports from non EU countries.

maybe this custom guy was wrong, but i believe you will find ways to give us arguments so that epic is a still camera too
