Being that its earth day is Red a green company or attempting to be green. Every little bit helps. Yes i know no more film stock but specifically the making of the cam.

Questions like these always remind me of the '50s - "Are you now, or have you been a member of the communist party?"
We all have to remember it takes chemicals, electricity, etc. to make just about everything we use - even the computer you're surfing the web on. That said, I'm sure they're using only what they need to get the job done.
A 4K camera - at this price - they have to be getting everything they can out of the resources they are using.

Certainly green, it is green because it is modular, you buy only what you need and grow as you need.
And you buy in a solution for probably years of market development (720p-4k) before you think of buying another one.
And you can re-use many 35mm lens (if you have or get few from ebay) or super-35mm lens while other promoting you to get specific made HD lens (glass is beautiful nature resources).
And you do everything digital, film is beautiful and unique to some people but for RED, film effect is just a post-production. you save many material here.
Does RED meet any green standard ? don't know yet but just for the reasons above, it is much better then many big manufactorers.
At the end, are we green ? hmm.. with RED we are :p...
