Actually CS4 has NOT launched. It's simply been announced. And it's entirely possible RED has decided to support CS4 and NOT CS3. (Guessing here) which would mean they have some time yet.
You have a while to wait yet. When the plugin is close, I am guessing RED will shout from the rooftops.

OnLocation CS4 captures REDCODE directly from camera?
Oh, please God!

That would be interesting, but via what path? OnLocation connects to video sources via 1394a. This interface is not present on the RED ONE as well as lacking sufficient bandwidth for this type of application. Ingest into Adobe applications will be via .r3d files (either CF, RED-RAM or RED-DRIVE) not OnLocation.

Yes, however... the Red Drives are just SATA over LEMO. It would be possible to "hack" the connection and have the data flow through OnLocation, if OnLocation were compatible with the RAW data that was being sent. (Not that I would encourage this type of behavior. :-)

I'm not looking.
But the Adobe-rs have to participate too, I guess.
OnLocation direct-to-disk to a nice RAID [3Ware comes to mind :)] and voila.

i doubt on location will be set up to capture red...
but as a side note fire wire 400, can theroetically capture 60MB/sec...that does leave some headroom for redcode 36

On Location will NOT capture RED.. Unless you want to capture the HD-SDI out or the HDMI out.. There are converters to make this possible.
Remember the HD-SDI will have audio, so that's not a bad idea.
Also remember, this is a strategic partnership. REDCode will still belong to RED. And RED is writing the plugin. Adobe is simply riding the marketing train here and using it's open platform and support to say "look how cool we are!" and they should... Right now they look a LOT COOLER than FCP.

When CS4 is released, will it have RED support built in.
