Did anyone get a look at the AJA io/hd box at NAB?

Seen a podcast where they had one hooked up and dude from AJA mentioned SATA raid connected with a dual sata port card on a macbookpro.

Anyone know what card this was? Caldigit? What was the raid.. Port multiplied?

I got the impression it was prores only.. but he said it also did SD uncompressed :-/

anyone?

cheers

It was a G-sata. Not sure which card, but it was not port-multiplied. The Aja box does do SD uncompressed. Prores only for HD work... all that data has to flow down a firewire 800 pipe. But the Prores/Uncompressed splitscreen demo I saw was indistinguishable except for one slight gamma difference on a fade to black... and that was a 10th-generation ProRes encode. Pretty impressive.

I use one of these.

Supports up to 10 drives with port-multiplication.

Drives appear as individual drives on the Mac and you RAID-0 with disk utility. I run a 3 drive RAID-0 and a couple of single 500GB drivesin a 5 drive enclosure.

Not screaming fast as it's single lane PCIe maxs out around 100MBps.

eSata connectors come out very easily!

Thanks Johnathan,

What raid boxes are you using? we just got a 8bay one. Really pleased so far. Though need something more portable for the io/hd when we can get our hands on one..

Could really do with a 5 drive enclosure with Raid5 built in.. like a highpoint onboard or something..
