just wondering what the status of the RED Drives is. There is a shortage of these babies, and we need more. Any word on when they'll be shipping and all caught up??

pensound, it was strange. Your serial number is higher than mine but you are still waiting ? I have receive a mail that the RED Drive is ready. You might want to check or you never ordered one ?

I'm 2434, received my camera mid August. My drives have shipped and arrive tomorrow. So they are catching up very quickly.

My first camera number is 1783, but I didn't take delivery until was satisfied with camera issues being discussed. I received my RED Drive tuesday.

Well i'm number 903 and i am still waiting on another drive that i paid for in full :waaa: a good 2-3 months ago. So, i would gather they are filling guys that have cameras with no drives at all. Fair enough.

Just like all backorders (aside from the RED PRO 18-85 zoom), we allocate in order of camera delivery date, not in order of camera serial number.

And the good news is, we should be through the RED-DRIVE backorder really soon and it will be placed back in the store for purchase.

Bracing for a rush of RED-DRIVE orders :)

I know the policy and agree with it. But c'mon, my camera was delivered WAY before other cameras into the high 1000's and even 2000's. And they are getting multiple drives when all i am waiting on is one. Is this fair? No i think not. I would have liked to see all the guys waiting on drives that don't have one but have a camera get one first then fill all orders that are waiting on additional drives. But one first to supply everyone with a least one then move onto delivery dates. I feel a bit ticked off here as i have had to rent drives to cover my jobs and people are receiving drives with delivery dates after mine. Not happy RED, c'mon.

Maybe it has just been a oversight which i can understand.

In general, is there a general Red email that we can use about issues like this? I know there are bomb squad members, but what if they go on vacation, sick, etc.?

I was with someone today with a much later delivery date than you and the Fedex man brought them a drive. Are you looking for extras or ones from your original order?

Hi,
for the people who doesn't have drives (me included) and they need a storage solutions immediately: you can get lexar 8gb 300x at a very reasonable price.
With the new build, the 17, it looks also you can use other cards but only at 2k, lexar works at 4k but in build 17 only in redcode 28. I think in the 16 they worked also with redcode36, but I'm note sure. Anyway that cards save me because my camera (2338) arrived without storage (hard drive were in backorder) I thought to receive the 16gb cards but they were in backorder too and I discovered it when my camera arrived! In this period my camera is working a lot, luckily I have a drive cable so when it needs I use the drives of other red owners so we can use two cameras simultaneously. But at the end of the story I can say I really like working with cards, it's a really easy workflow.

there's a rebate which makes the lexar 8gb about 90 bucks.

At B&H after rebate they cost $67.95. Pretty cheap!
