…and hell still is warm...
The first non-beta-test units of the famous Birger Canon mount are now actually shipping. A number of Red owners have now received their tracking number.
:sorcerer::shiftyph34r:!
EDIT: Between September and December of 2008 only a handful of mounts did get shipped. Late December the situation worsened with RED saying that only installations done by Birger would not void the warranty. Birger is working on a solution.
In the meantime, Andy Lesniak has started shipping dumb mount versions of his Canon mount.

How dare you post this outside of the Birger thread! It is everyone's duty to slog through all 1,000,000 posts on a daily basis to see what's up.

I remember when i was in Barcelona almost a year ago. I was checking out at the Hotel Arts (http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/Barcelona/Default.htm) and my credit card was Declined, and I was trying to figure out why, and I thought, ahhh, probably Birger has charged me and shipped my Nikon mount with knob and bluetooth control.
I was so young and naive.

Yes, pigs are still flightless... However, unconfirmed sources are reporting that Satan was just involved in a snowball fight.
Seriously though.. Congrats to Erik / Birger Engineering! This has been quite an adventure.

Cool - but I want to make sure people install them and they work well. I'm excited and hope this is true.
What is the word on the warranty with the new changes?

I'm kinda waiting till I've got one with a working knob that gets me through a shoot before get too excited. I'm still wondering if a VF FF with a Nikon mount is the way to go.
I imagine having a Birger and a VF FF would be the ultimate in flexibility.

Birger leaves the warranty intact.

Cool!
For those us us who have missed the last few seasons of the Birger Mount Show, can some nice person please give me the low-down on a few questions:
-What family of lenses does it support (EF, etc.)
-What is actually shipping (knob/wireless, etc.)
-Price
-How does one actually order the thing/get in touch with these guys?
Many thanks!

Tom, don't hold your breath yet.
The situation has been downgraded to Amber, with just a few mounts trickling out and knobs missing. First when the mounts ship in the dozens with working knobs will the really exciting times come.
BTW: Here's a quick way of doing a reality check on the Birger Shipping Mount Situation: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=292391#post292390
