View Full Version : 744T and Red One FW 17
Hello
First I would like to say hello. it´s my 1st post.
I was reading here about issues between the 744T and red one TC. Did the new Firmware update solve it?.
We´ve got a project and will be using the 744t on the set, and I´d like to inform the DOP and the producer about possible drift.
Thank you very much

Welcome blob -
We did extensive sync tests on Build 16 - and you can safely tell producer he/she has nothing to worry about.

Just watch your sync after any Playbacks. Menu option 51 on the Sound Device.
I also use the 744T to RED.
Thanks Dexter.
Just to clear one more thing: in which mode of the timecode do I have to work?
Free run, 24, . I´m a bit a noob
Thank you in advance

That's one way.
One other way is to use the RED camera menu function Jam Sync.

Timecode framerate should match RED framerate.
For Timecode Mode I use Free Run.
If you're not sure what each Mode does and you already own a Sound Devices Recorder just call their toll free technical support. They are so helpful.

Hi Dexter could you explain?
As far as I'm told from other threads I have to do like this:
1) Turn on jam sync in the menu
2) Put the camera in record
3) Connect the 744T with the LEMO connector to RED so the camera can sync
I have tried this without camera in record and it seems to work fine. But I'm told that timecode will drift to much if the camera is not in record??
Do you know anything about this??
Thanks
Morten

I notice NO drifting, ever.
Timecode framerate should match RED framerate.
1) Turn on jam sync in the RED Camera menu
2) Connect the 744T with the LEMO connector to RED so the camera can sync
3) Put the camera in record
That's one way that works.
4) Pay attention to Menu option 51 on the SD 744T. (When camera and recorder are in sync the numbers match). (RX - TC), (TX - TC) numbers should match.
