Hello,

I'm working with Red footage for the first time and running into some serious color consistency problems when I move the footage into After Effects. When I drop it in with no color profile, the footage gets really bright. When I apply a color profile, it goes darker but then when I output it, it gets too dark and there's a color shift. Any suggestions on a good workflow to get consistent colors all the way across or at least a predictable output?

I'll need more info, but perhaps I can be of help. What file format, exactly, are you importing into After Effects? I'm asking this, because as of right now, it is not possible to import Redcode (r3d) directly into After Effects, so the footage must have been transcoded into another format, and this can help determine what you need to set in AE.

regards,

John T.

Hey John,

Thanks for responding. We're transcoding the r3d files into prores hq. I was just recently put into this project (which was already in progress) so I don't know too many specifics but I can get them from the project lead if you need more info.

Added questions to this... if I export TIFF's from Redcine to import into a color managed workflow in After Effects, what color profile should be assigned to those TIFF's?

Thanks
