My understanding is that there is a functional difference between the way that the conventional way lenses perform on film vs CCD/CMOS sensors.

Sensors "expose" better when light enter perpendicular to the sensor surface whereas films random array grain structure will accept light from any angle, I think the Digiprimes have some sort of collimation built in to reflect this.

Are the RED lenses built with this in mind or am I talking total BS

I have seen this question about lenses discussed for several years in the context of digital SLR cameras, and using dSLRs with lenses designed for film, but I've never seen a definitive conclusion. My question is, if this is true, what visible effect would this cause in the resulting image?

I have been using a Canon dSLR for several years with Canon lenses which were designed for use with film, but I have not experienced any problems. The digital images look pretty much the same as the scanned film negative images did, except that they don't have the film grain or the fingerprint smudges or the dust that always clings to negatives.
