I noticed the Cooke /i insignia on the 18-50 CF Zoom. From the press release on the Cooke website, I assume this will be incorporated into all of the future Red Primes. Does anyone know if the 300mm Prime also has the /i lens metadata feature?

I don't think the 300m has i technology integrated, the 18-50 definitely does.

my understanding, based on the press release, was that Red One could read /i metadata from Cooke lenses. I have NOT heard it stated that Red made lenses would have /i tech.
As for /i insignia - is that it under Red's logo? And those four contacts on the lens - are those for /i? I'm not a shooter, I wouldn't know.

Indeed, the Red CF zoom and the primes will incorperate /I tech. from Cooke for transfer of FIZ (Focus/Iris/Zoom) information to the meta data and the viewfinder (At least Iris). Cool huh?

In a "What Was Cool at Cine Gear" article I wrote for Studio Daily last year, the Cooke S4/i lens technology was one of the "cool" things I picked to profile. I think it's a great move by RED to incorporate the "i" technology in their RED lenses. As someone who has reserved, and will buy/use all of the RED lenses, it's great news for my field and post workflows.
Thanks RED...

This technology actually existed way earlier, Arri and Zeiss presented the LDS-system back in 2000 I believe, as part of the new Arricam lineup. It has exactely the same functions but was not licensed to other vendors like cooke´s.
